NIC Board of Trustees to participate in training sessions
Posted: Friday, May 19, 2023Members of the North Idaho College Board of Trustees will participate in training sessions at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25 and Tuesday, June 6 in the Driftwood Bay Room of the Edminster Student Union Building on the NIC campus in Coeur d’Alene. These training sessions do not fulfill the requirements of an open public meeting, thus will not be open to the public.
In January 2023, the NIC Board of Trustees participated in an open meeting law training facilitated by the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. At that training, it was conveyed that the trustees may gather as a quorum without it being an open public meeting as long as they are not meeting “to make a decision or to deliberate toward a decision on any matter.”
College Administration has decided, in an effort to be transparent about the trustees’ activities, to provide an informational notice about the upcoming training session as a courtesy to the public.
The training session is part of ongoing board development with consultants from the Association of Community College Trustees. No decisions nor deliberations toward any decision will take place.
