Online Class Requirements

Requirements for the online program effective the week of September 9, 2024 are shown below:

  • five-hour per week minimum of engaged study time is required. This can be reduced if also regularly attending in-person class.
  • one-week warning is given before deactivation for students who do not comply with weekly requirements. Communicate with the online instructor to discuss barriers that we might help you overcome before deactivation.
  • Students will attend a hybrid session with the online instructor no less than once per month - Zoom, phone, or in-person - to discuss growth, goal review, and/or skill help as directed by demonstrated need. This synchronous remote instruction/meeting will be an expected component of your Distance Education. *
  • Enter the instructor's phone number in Contacts so you will answer when this unfamiliar number comes in - 208-665-5098.
  • The instructor will continue weekly email and text conversations with students regarding study observations, testing, and additional needs. Checking email frequently is essential.

You are utilizing a software license that provides a “seat” in the class and the Adult Education Center has a limited number of these seats.

The above requirements were set with input from the Adult Education State Director, the NIC Adult Education Director, the Essential Education Support Team, and the Online Instructor.

* Synchronous Remote Learners meet virtually and at the same time as the instructor during a scheduled time using a web-based meeting tool or educational software.
